We start by locating your property lines and utilities, then set line, terminal, and corner posts in concrete footings sized for our red-clay soil and the freeze-and-thaw cycle we get in the foothills. Skimping on post depth is the number-one reason cheap fences lean within a year — we do not cut that corner.
From there we run the top rail, stretch the chain link mesh tight so it will not sag or bow, and finish with tension bands, brace bands, and tie wires at every post. Every fence gets the gates it needs, hung level and latching cleanly, whether that is a single walk gate or a 12-foot double drive gate for equipment access.
Galvanized vs. vinyl-coated: choosing the right chain link
Galvanized chain link is the classic silver mesh — zinc-coated steel that resists rust and delivers the most security per dollar. It is the go-to for utility fencing, ball fields, kennels, and commercial lots.
Vinyl-coated (PVC) chain link adds a bonded color layer — usually black or green — over the galvanized wire. It looks far more finished in a backyard, blends into a tree line so the fence almost disappears, and adds another barrier against corrosion. For homeowners who want chain link's price with a cleaner look, vinyl-coated is well worth the small upcharge.
